I started this blog for many reasons. I’ve been following politics for a while now and I’ve had a growing concern for the future of America.
I grew up with the idea that America was pure and about freedom, honor, and pride. As a child, when my family would go to the lake and take the boat out my Grandpa without fail would fly the American flag on the back of the boat. The flag was a symbol of freedom. My Grandpa who is an army Veteran had great respect for the flag. My other Grandpa was also an Army Veteran who served in World War II and also had a great respect for his county. Their influence built great respect within me for my country. As I grew older and began to understand politics and government more, the pure childhood image I had of America started to distort. I always believed that the Government had my best interest in mind and wouldn’t do anything that would hinder or harm my pursuit of happiness. As an adult I’ve learned that Government isn’t really on my side at all. The Government is out for its own gain while Americans are footing the bills for all the enormous and inefficient Government programs that do nothing but move the power from the people into the hands of the Government. I still have great pride for my country but it’s my Government that has lost a lot of my trust.
I came up with the name of the blog from the video below. It’s a video of Katy Abram a stay at home Mom giving a statement during Arlen Specter’s town hall meeting. Katy stated that she has never been interested in politics but the resent acts of the Government has awakened the sleeping giant. My sleeping giant has also been awakened and my goal here is to help awaken the sleeping giant within you.

As a Navy vet I know the importance of how it feels to live and die by the freedoms we take for granted. Steve I know how you feel and to see where this country is heading. It demeans what our forefathers fought and died for. Right now these politicians that are making these changes are the ones we elected if we did or didn’t. They don’t care about what the people want they are pushing there agenda. But regardless true liberty will prevail.

Andrew thank you for your comment. You are a great American and I thank you for your services to our country. I do believe liberty will prevail as long as Men like you and me are around.

Good luck in your pursuit of changing the political landscape. Our political views are opposite, and we may disagree on the direction the country is taking, but the great thing about this country, and one of the things you are fighting to preserve, is the ability to express yourself and your ideas.
Now I must get back to work on fighting for Obama’s agenda: Stealing guns, distributing wealth, taking over private industry, and killing old people.

Thanks Ian,
The beauty of our government system is that we can keep each other in check. I believe you and I have the same ultimate goals but maybe different way to get to them. I’m not so sure about the governments goals and I mean both Democrats and Republicans. We must question our leaders and hold them accountable.
The last part of your comment made me laugh! You’re a good man in my book.
